This was the other post topic that I missed because I was taking it easy after New Year: “Words I Resolve to Avoid for a While. Every person and every industry has overused words. Pick few and write about why they’re off your list for 2007.“
1. “I don’t…”
This is often the prefix to “I don’t think so”, “I don’t know”, “I don’t think I can” and other such combinations. It’s often the first words out of my mouth even before I have had a chance to think about whether it really IS and “I don’t” statement. I find it negative and contrary to my subconscious beliefs so I feel I should eliminate this from my vocab for 2007.
2. “Some day” or “One day”
2007 is going to be another year of achievements which means goal setting. You can’t set goals with “some day” and “one day”. These don’t define a definite timeline to aim for and usually mean I have no intention of achieving what I set out to reach. From now on, I will replace these words with words in real time, like “in five years” or “by next week”, etc.
